Happy Nappy FAQ's
A swim nappy is a reusable garment worn in the pool by babies and toddlers in place of a regular nappy. It's made from soft neoprene rather than absorbent material, so it won't swell up in water. Launched in 2005, The Happy Nappy™ features an innovative swim nappy design and is now used by 90% of UK swim schools.
The Happy Nappy™ works through a snug fit rather than absorbency. Specialist ribs at the waist and thighs form a secure seal against the skin, containing solids while still allowing free movement for kicking and splashing. The neoprene shape cups the bottom to prevent gaping, keeping the seal in place throughout the lesson.
Pull the Happy Nappy™ on like regular underwear, making sure the ribbed seals sit snugly at the waist and both thighs with no gaps. Once fitted correctly, it's ready to wear straight into the pool, with no extra steps needed beforehand.
Waist: Measure all the way around at the child’s tummy button (navel) height.
Body: Measure from the top of the child’s shoulder to the crotch.
Thigh: Measure all the way around at the top of the child’s thigh.
Chest: Measure all the way around the chest just under the armpits.
Hand wash in cool water and dry away from direct sunlight unless the care label states otherwise. Soiled nappies can be machine washed at 30° with non-biological detergent, but frequent machine washing may reduce longevity.
The Happy Nappy works effectively without an additional swim nappy. If your swim school requires a double nappy, we recommend using our silver-lined nappy wrap or cotton nappy wrap with a nappy liner. Matching swimwear is available for a full swim outfit. Pair with a Baby Wrap or Warm in One to keep babies cosy.
The Happy Nappy™ is a single-layer swim nappy designed specifically to contain solids. The Happy Nappy Duo™ is similar in fit but also includes a second inner layer, scientifically proven to kill germs. The Happy Nappy Duo™ meets the swim school's Double Nappy System requirement, while the Happy Nappy™ will need an additional under nappy to meet this criterion.
No. As with disposable swim nappies, the Happy Nappy™ does not hold in urine. It is designed to allow water to pass in and out of the nappy to prevent it from becoming waterlogged. However, it is incredibly reliable in containing solids
